Social housing scheme confirmed for Holywood

It has been confirmed that a new social housing scheme will be built on a site in Holywood, Co Down, providing 31 family homes and 6 apartments for elderly people who live alone.

The project will be built on land that was previously occupied by 2 blocks of flats owned by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, and is expected to be completed by September 2014. Clanmil Housing is carrying out the construction which is being funded by the Northern Ireland Executive.

Housing Minister Nelson McCausland said the project would revitalise the West Green area of Holywood, and was part of his "key objective .. to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to access good quality accommodation."
