71 per cent increase in new build houses in NI

By Lauren Burns

First time buyers will welcome the news that there was a 71 per cent increase in new build properties in Northern Ireland between the months of July and September this year, compared to the same period in 2013.

There were 700 hew houses registered in Northern Ireland over the 3 month period, but despite the dramatic jump compared to 2013, levels of new builds are still far below the numbers of 2007 and previous years. Last year new housing starts reached their lowest levels in a decade, with construction work begun on 5,170 properties, down on the 5,828 in 2012.
