Widow to bring claim against texting driver

The husband of a woman who was run over and killed by a driver who was texting at the time is to bring a road traffic compensation claim against the driver.

John Lyon, aged 71, is expected to claim over £300,000 for the accident which saw his wife Christine run over by eighteen year old Keisha Bianca Wall who was using her mobile phone at the time of the incident. Mr Lyon is himself disabled and had been cared for by his wife of forty two years.

Miss Wall's mother was in the car at the time of the incident, and is herself a qualified driving instructor. Prosecution charges were brought against her but were subsequently dropped. Miss Wall is currently in a young offenders institute after she was convicted of a charge of dangerous driving.
