Northern Ireland footballer not guilty of assault

By Gary Adair

David Healy, a 33-year-old Northern Ireland football player, has been found not guilty of assault after the credibility of one of the prosecution witnesses was brought into question.

Mr Healy had been charged with assault after an incident in Belfast city centre in May 2012, and pleaded not guilty at the Magistrates' Court. He was found not guilty after the judge said the decision came down to the "credibility of one person". One of the prosecution witnesses had admitted lying in an effort to blacken Mr Healy's name.
