Survey reveals most desirable postcodes in Northern Ireland

By Lauren Burns

The five most desirable postcodes to live in Northern Ireland have been revealed in a Royal Mail survey that looked at green spaces, affordable housing and commuting times.

The study was carried out by the Centre for Economic and Business Research and found that BT64, Craigavon in Country Armagh, was the most desirable postcode in Northern Ireland. The other top five in descending order were:

  • BT64 - Craigavon, County Armagh
  • BT10 - Finaghy, Belfast
  • BT66 - Lurgan, County Armagh
  • BT16 - Dundonald, Belfast
  • BT38 - Carrickfergus, County Antrim

According to the study, Craigavon tops the list in Northern Ireland because of "lower than average commuting times and fewer people working over 50 hours a week". Affordable housing is also a factor and a quick search online revealed a handful of properties in BT64 on the market for sale, ranging from £37,000 to £132,000.
